WHEN DID IT BECOME OK TO TEXT GRANDMA "MERRY CHRISTMAS " INSTEAD OF A PHONE CALL?
When did it become ok to "text" Merry Christmas to your Grandma instead of a phone call?I guess I should feel fortunate I do know how to text and I am computer literate or I might not have heard from anyone. In the age of Twitter, Text messaging, Facebook and the like, it is either get with it or get lost.I myself went crazy over the internet when it first came into my life. At a very low period, when loneliness over whelmed me I stayed up half the night if not all night staring at that little box in front of me. The whole world was right there, but thankfully over time I tired of it. One of the biggest problems is way too much information about your life is up for grabs. Facebook is a bit over the top as is Twitter. I do not need to know you just threw up or I have a kid with diarrhea. Everytime you have a tiff with the boyfriend husband whatever it is blow by blow and the next time you log in it is all kisses and hearts. Gag me please.I have a Facebook and MySpace account for one reason so I can see pictures of my grandkids in another state since my kids can not take time to send dear old Mom any by "snail mail" that is the US postal service.Even that is a source of fear for me, with child predators running wild online I do not want their photos downloaded by some nut case and used for gratification of a pervert. No matter what the roadblocks you put up online for privacy there is always a way around it. The best plan would be to think your minister is going to read it live in church on Sunday morning. If you can not handle that do not write it.
